SU2C Stories
Taking care of herself and living a healthy lifestyle has always been a top priority for the gaming streamer and content creator known as @_kandidlykayla. When she began getting sick in 2019, she told her doctor she thought it might be cancer. “I have a family history of the disease, and I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. My doctor took me seriously and soon after, I learned I was facing early-stage ovarian cancer,” Kayla says.
During treatment, Kayla began streaming and her online community quickly became her family. “I didn’t tell anyone I was facing cancer when I first started streaming, but once I did, my community helped get me through it.” Today, Kayla is cancer-free and committed to supporting collaborative cancer research and health equity initiatives.
“I’ve always known about #StandUpToCancer, so I was honored to participate in a #SU2CStreamTeam event.” Kayla adds, “I Stand Up To Cancer for everyone. There are so many people out there who go through treatment alone. Even if I’m just there in spirit, I want anyone facing this disease to know I’m standing with them.”
